Belarusian optical industry has a great tradition. This was proved by the latest revolution in optical manufacturing brought from Belarus - MagnetoRheological Finishing (MRF). The technology was developed in the 1980-ies at BelAMA. As there has been so much talk about the GTD1752VRK I thought I might share some 'inside' pictures of the unit: Clearly to be seen Gen. 4 VNT mechanics which are riveted together to avoid disassembly: Some kind of cooling path behind and almost around the turbine: The 'simple' turbine blade and tip geometry is an necessary 'downside' of the production process for this turbine wheel, as it is different from the known wheels with the 'cupped' design turbine tips. These here are straight for a reason:-) The well known 'just press all together, screws are to expensive and complicated' gtD turbine housing assembly design: Nice and also already well known compressor wheel with extended tip technology, AND (what actually was only done by BorgWarner before) with ball point mill balancing marks in the space between compressor blades: Nice and very smooth machined compressor housing: Best regards Alex. If you need any infos regarding the parts from 1752vrk let me know, i have them on my desk. Regarding the turbine wheel blades desing, on same turbo family (1752vrk), with same 52mm cw 8 bades garrett has mounted a 9 blades 'old style wheel' design. What i found strage is that this wheel is mounted in a bearing housing with water cooling (819976 bmw dose not have water) but same ceramic ball bearing is inside (not the steel that we can find on mercedes / volvo Vklr turbos that have water cooling). Anybody has an opinion about this?
