That's right folks! You heard me right! We now have a working Windows 7 driver for the Gunze Panel! I found a driver from a private company called Touch-Base Ltd. Download lagu sesungguhnya aku tak rela melihat kau dengannya sungguh hati terl. They manufacture drivers for OEMs and large corporations mostly, specializing in touchscreens. Turns out they support the whole line of Gunze panels under Windows 7, and a demo copy of the driver is free (more about that later)! I've been running it for several hours with only a few minor problems, several of which were due to my external monitor (in portrait mode no less), and should have less of an impact on the rest of you. It was also a bit of PITA to set-up, but again, that should be less of an issue if you completely un-install the Gunze/Sony driver first.
Now I mentioned that the free version is only a demo. That's because every 100 'clicks' with it, a nag pop-up will open reminding you to purchase a full version. Other than that, it's 100% functional. Darkerx has managed to negotiate an excellent deal of $28.50 per license for the full version of the driver. That's 50% off the regular price of $57 each for 50 licenses!
Now as for what you get for your $$: A full Windows 7 Driver, fully compatible and enabling all Windows 7 touch and pen features! Flicks, ink, right click. It all works, and works properly! There is also an OSx driver available from the same company at the same price. We can order mixed batches of Mac and Windows licenses, so feel free to order whichever you need (or both, if that's your thing) darkerx has called the OSx driver 'the best 'touch' driver for UX running macosx' darkerx is handling ordering for us, so here's the process: He accepts payments via PayPal ($28.50 per driver license) at: Add a comment also (required for the driver company), which he'll send to Touch-base: Name: Email: OS: Total No. Licenses: Then they will send you a personalized download link (they are UK based and operate also during week-ends).
Install instructions are in the next post. **DISCLAIMER: I have done this mod, and it works 100% for me, YMMV. I am not liable for any damage incurred while performing this mod. Use at your own risk!** Okay so this install should work for either the DEMO or Full Version of the driver.
Details on the FREE DEMO: It is FULLY FUNCTIONAL, but after every calibration it will only function for 100 'clicks' with the touchscreen. When you've used up your 100 clicks, a dialogue (nag) box will pop up reminding you that it is only a DEMO. Your touchscreen will stop functioning (it will make an annoying tone every time you try to use it) until you clear the box. You will need to click on 'OK' with something other than your touchscreen (as it is locked out). The built in Pointing Stick will work, as will an external mouse. Once you've cleared the box, you're good to go for 100 more clicks, and so on.
We will not tolerate 'sharing' of the driver. You want the full version, you buy it. The good folks at Touch-Base have a great product and gave us a great deal. They deserve their fair share. Okay, now all the warnings and legal stuff are out of the way, lets get down to business!
So first things first, lets remove that nasty old Gunze driver • If you have the Wacom driver pack installed, you should un-install it first. It won't hurt anything if you don't remove it, but it's completely redundant with the new driver installed. • Open device manager. • Locate and expand the 'Human Interface Devices' section. • Locate and right click on 'GUNZE USB HID Device' and select 'Uninstall'; be sure to select the 'Delete the driver software for this device.' • Don't restart when Windows asks you to. Tell it you'll restart later.
