Building on the success of its previous titles, the game incorporates a roster of 30 fighters, strong 3D visuals, and multiple story modes that makes you keep wanting to get back to the game.

Fans of the series will appreciate Atari’s effort to incorporate the same fighting poses and elements used in the actual anime. Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 delivers a branching story and solid gameplay that allow for high re-playability—the key factor that either makes or breaks the genre. Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 Cover (NDS) As a fighting game, Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 offers a lot of fast pace combat thanks to its deep mechanics that allow for various combos and variety. The production quality is decent despite only having an average license at the time of its release.

While the 3D backgrounds and voice samples feel static, they mesh well together to immerse player in the world throughout the solid gameplay. Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 includes standard combat maneuvers such as punching, grappling, and kicking but the free aerial movement and ranged energy blasts gave players more leeway for their offensive strategy. Spacing remains a key obstacle for many of the moves, more so because of the rapid movements that occur in each fight.

But the dynamic camera zooms and adjusts itself quite well, making it easier for the player to keep track of their fighter during the fight. The learning curve might be a steep especially for newcomers to the series, but the game rewards you well after you pull off long combos with top tier characters like. The controls may be a little jarring as they are limited to the buttons only, while the touch screen is severely underused. The game can sometimes be prone to button mashing as certain combos are difficult to string especially if you’re quite conservative in your approach. The AI is challenging enough to keep you on edge of most fights, as many of them require the player’s ability to execute moves well, without being too frustrating and dependent on luck.
