Darkvoice 336se Vs Bottlehead Crack
Hey folks, I've done a lot of research into tube amps for a new pair of Senn HD650s(and Grados SR80s as well). I don't currently own any tube amps, this will be first foray into them and I frankly very excited to see what all the fuss is about. My current amp is the Schiit Magni.
I narrowed down my choices to three amps. Schiit Valhalla 2. Little Dot MKIII 3. Darkvoice 336se A few things to add: I will be interested in tube rolling and I believe these three amps are all pure tube amps, and not hybrids, if I am wrong please let me know.
May 23, 2017 DarkVoice 336SE OTL Headphone Amp. Discussion in 'Audio Hardware' started by Veech, Dec 11. When I saw the Darkvoice on Massdrop for such a nice price and what appeared to be 1w output, I got very interested. Lightly used Bottlehead Crack headphone amplifier with the Speedball upgrade and the following customizations.
Considering my current headphones, which of these amps would you recommend as your choice? I finished building a Crack about a week ago. I bought some 600 ohm AKG K250 Monitor headphones to use with it and am very happy with the result. This was the first time I have soldered anything. There were a few difficult things but overall it was not that difficult. The instruction/construction manual that Bottlehead provides is excellent. Simply excellent.
Good photos, descriptions and you just check off each step as it is completed. I bought a Hakko soldering station and an inexpensive digital multimeter, wire stripper, wire cutter. Some sort of third hand device or a helper to hold things would have been very helpful at times. All in all, it was a fun project and there is nothing like making something yourself! Well, I don't have experience with the headphone amps you mentioned, but I have Grado SR80's, and they go incredibly-well with my Fisher 800C receiver while the Sennheisers do not (Even my cheap little OEM Panasonic headphones that came with a discman-type player sounded better. Those are actually the best cheap phones I've ever heard. The Sennheisers sounded hollow in comparison on the Fisher). Fetele marinarului film serial online.

And the Grados have zero dampening issues. Sound is primo.
And considering that I paid $350-$375 for the Fisher sans case (I threw in another $75 so I could have the case as well, but people often sell them without), it's quite a bargain. Plenty of them out there too.
